Charging strategy
Model solar and DC-DC charging as separate sources
Calculate solar harvest and alternator or DC-DC contribution separately. That makes it clear whether the system remains viable during short winter days, extended stays, or no-driving periods.
State the driving assumption
Use expected driving hours and a conservative charging contribution. A plan should still show what happens if the vehicle does not move.
Check source compatibility
Verify voltage, current, temperature behavior, alternator limitations, and the charger documentation before buying.
Keep critical loads independent
Critical overnight loads need a battery reserve. Do not rely on tomorrow’s drive as the only resilience measure.
